legal and moral

One of the possible legal, moral or ethical issues I will have to come across is things like copyright. There will be times in this assignment brief where I will be getting secondary research and perhaps taking peoples creations across the internet. This could be things like images or information which has been stored by another human being. I can avoid this or perhaps ignore this idea by using less secondary research as much as I can and to be more primary whilst getting information through things like information from local people that do know of grime music and most importantly, asking the older generation about the history of grime music.

Secondly I will need to be aware of health and safety of all the different things I will need to do to bring this whole article into one piece. For example, If I do take pictures of different things such as studios as well as other things in which rappers use to make their music, I will need to ensure I use a tripod stand so the camera shot is appropriate and clear for the users to see and to be aware of what is going on. Similarly, I will need a high quality camera and I can get this through the technicians of the college in which they supply me with. With the high quality camera, the article which will be made will look professional with appropriate shots used. I will also need to find an appropriate space and time to take all these shots such as the environment.

Thirdly, I will need to approve that any pictures in which I have taken has been approved and ask by the specific person. For example, If I happen to take any pictures of anyone which allows them to be inside my article, it is an unapproved picture due to the fact that the person may not want to be inside the article for obvious reasons such as privacy. With this, I will not only be taking pictures but I will also be interviewing the public about different things so I will need to ask permission for the specific person to know and to be aware of where all of the clips and images will be taken and displayed to make sure they are fine with it.

Fourthly, My second article which includes a lot about boxing will include different shots taken of different boxing arenas and clubs; I must not make the building look like a bad place to be due to things like advertisements around places like moving images and the web. I must ask each owner whether it is acceptable to take images of their galleries and what they hold inside their boxing arena, similarly to my grime article, I could potentially be interviewing some people about their history of boxing within East London. This could be people from out of the boxing arenas and perhaps through their own knowledge so I must be aware that I must respect all buildings when I enter and not speak foul language to disturb one another.

Planning
For the planning of my photos I created a number of documents that helped me get to where i am now. I created a photographers, calling sheet to know the dates and times of when i was i also created a planning sheet, the planning sheet helped me brainstorm my ideas at the beginning of my coursework. I got the idea of take photos around plants because the are natures moldels.

Technical
nothing went wrong

I used a HUAWEI G6 camera to take all of these photos.
shutter speed...
the focus on all the images is the plants and there colours
framing...
I used natural light to take my photos as we was outside on a sunny day. no artificial light was needed.

planning

Subject

The subject of my photos will be plants. I want to take photos of this because plants are my passion and i think it will make good photos of all the different plants in east london

Availability of resources

For my photos i am going to need my phone

Bookings

Bookings will not be necessary as i will be using my own camera to take my photos.

Image resolution/ pixel size

Scaling factor is 3 and the image is afterwards downscaled from rendered 2208 × 1242 pixels.

Location

The location i will be taking photos will be at coronation gardens, i want to take them there as i know the best angles

Light

I will be getting natural light from being outside. I am going to take my photos around midday so lighting will not be an issue.

Permissions

I will not need any permissions as it is a public garden and i take photos when nobody is around

Interior

There won’t be any.

Evaluation

I met the aims of the brief in full my topic was clear and met my target audience the format set be culture east was easy to follow and I had no worries about getting my point across.

The news segment fitted really well with my original idea of audio piece because it has music at the start and the end with and interview about a current event.

The strengths of my audio were the interview was clear and could be under-stood without the audio being distorted and the music worked with the importance of the interview.

What I could have improved would of having an audio track throughout the interview segment to kept the listener more involved I could of had a video podcast so the target audience can see the reaction as the interview was in progress

Interviews

The purpose of interviews is to give a detailed account of an event straight from eye-witnesses. There are two types of interviews one is face to face and the other over the phone

Face – to – face:

This is when the reporter talks to an eye- witness of an event and gives their account of what happened this means that the information is coming from the original source.

Over the phone

This is where an eye – witness contacts the radio station or news room and tells them what they saw without reviling their face.

Incidental music/aural motifs:

This is music that reinforces what is happing in the interview or while the host is talking. More commonly known as mood music it sets the tone of what is being said.

Example: interview about London bridge attack the eye- witness is upset by what happened so slow sad music is played.

Upbeat music can also be used to show the listener that an event is fun such as a new theme park so jazzy music is played.

Jingles:

What are Jingles?

Instead of a slogan radio shows have what is called a jingle this could be artists saying the name of the radio station to a funky beat or simply the name of the radio station.

Phone-ins:

This is where the public can either take control what is played or they give their option on certain topics that are being addressed most radio station rely on audience interaction because they like the idea of what the public thinks.

                              Risk assessment

When recording in the sound booth I will need to be aware of any loose wires laying around from the equipment. Also I have to be aware of other people around me when using certain equipment. If recording in the TV studio then I will have to be aware of my surroundings such as tables or chairs that could be in the way. We also have to be aware of any equipment in these rooms such as stage lights so that we do not trip over them.

The maximum time of the recording can be 5 minutes. My aim is to at least have a 2 minute minimum for my recording. The timeframe will depend on the amount of points made in the recording.

                        Recording schedule

I will be recording audio for the podcast on the 22nd June 2017 between the times of 9.00am – 11.30 am

With the recording process for the audio being inside I will need to find a nice small place to record where the sound does not bounce around and stay at one point and keeps it clear. With the microphone I will need to do a sound test and check the peak level it can go at and test a few lines so that the volume does not raise above that level and I can get the best quality out of the microphone. This is also beneficial to make sure that the room used for recording is suitable and would not mess with the audio.

report

Report

Zoom microphones – this is a recording device that lets you record dialogue but it’s very sensitive to noise so make sure you are in a quiet room. You can  also check the peaks by looking at the red indicators

Audacity/ logic – both of these are recording software that lets the user upload sound clips and then the user and able to change the pitch, depth and the ability to trim.

Multi track – what this means is that multiple layers of sound played at the same time

Example: dialogue with a beat in the background

Before you start you need to check your equipment is working properly and has full charge before you can do anything. Throughout the whole of your recording you need to keep an eye on the sound level (peaks) to make sure that you don’t distort your recording. Before you start recording make sure there is a minimal to no noise in the room before you hit the record button.

microphones

Microphones and there uses?

Dynamic microphones are very rugged and can be dropped and not break this type of micro phones is commonly used in festivals or weddings.
http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/images/mic-dynamic.gifWhat’s inside?
Inside this microphone is as follows
Diaphragm
Cone
Magnet
Coil
There key elements make up the inner working of the microphone. The Diaphragm is a tiny piece of plastic the coil is attached to the Diaphragm then the coil moves up and down the magnet.

Condenser microphones are not rugged at all because if you shout to loud the inner working will snap. This type of microphone is only used in recording studios.

Inside this microphone is as follows
Front plate (Diaphragm)
Back plate
Battery
A condenser microphone works like a dynamic but instead of a magnet and a coil it has a battery this battery needs an external power source. It has two plates which gets hit by the sound wave and goes around and hits a back. The battery uses a power source called phantom power.

The polar patterns means the sensitivity to the direction or angle in which the sound arrives the most common types of direction are omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional and super cardioid.
Omnidirectional-
This means the mic can pic everything up from someone whispering to someone dropping a chair a fall of this is that it can cause feedback if it gets too close to a speaker.
Cardioid –
This sort of microphone is the most sensitive at the front and less at the back it also isolates any unwanted ambient sound and more resistant to feedback that makes them most suited for loud places

Connecters -
Mono jack - one band
Stereo jack – two bands that can plug in to any device just look at our I phone headphones
XLR  -  these usually have three pins and can connect to passive speakers

sound

https://homefoam.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/purple-charcoal-acoustic-wedge-soundproofing-studio-foam-tiles.jpghttp://www.school-for-champions.com/science/images/sound_transverse.gifWhat is sound?

Sound waves or vibration can be measured by a unit of measurement called decibels that moves through the air it can be represented as a wave.
Acoustics – sound is reflected on a hard surface (house, car and bedroom) if you clap you can hear a ping but what you really want is the sound to do is absorbed if you have ever been in a music studio or on YouTube they have bumpy foam panels on the wall. Where you want to be is in a cupboard but not in your bathroom the sound will be rubbish. (Properties of sound) you can mainly find foam panels in studios.
Reverberation – the time the sound of your voice will be prolonged until the echo dies out. Example If you go to church or on top of a mountain the sound will echo but your voice will stop. Lots of reverb is now used in music we use today because it makes the artist feel in an open space.

Exterior acoustics – unlike interior acoustics which has walls for sound to bounce. Exterior acoustics the sound will just vanish or get distorted by the wind one way to combat this is on the mic use a wind muff (as pictured below) almost looks like your camera has hair but it really helps with vlogging because is not only blocks out wind but also can minimise the amount of ambient/ background sound when recording.

Interior acoustics – this is where you use a space like your bedroom or an empty room like a studio to record music or a video with minimal noise  this is where you use sound proofing.

What is studio acoustics?
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/q502hvFvlTM/maxresdefault.jpgStudio acoustics https://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachments/studio-building-acoustics/149926d1261688710-small-studio-acoustics-studioangle2.jpgis all to do with spacing and noise levels although it’s good to be in a small room you still need to move around and have the padding in the right place. It’s advisable to have the padding in close proximity of your equipment for great effect.
